As the national body for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Diversity Works New Zealand has taken the lead in designing a framework for the professional accreditation of people who are tasked with transforming organisations into places of belonging for an increasingly diverse workforce.
It formally acknowledges the skills, knowledge and experience that enable recognised professionals to build cultures of inclusion and cohesion within Aotearoa workplaces.
It also gives accredited professionals access to current best practice and support from an engaged community of DEI specialists.
Last month’s hui was part of the accelerated accreditation process, available until next year. This allows people with significant experience in DEI mahi to gain accreditation under a straight-forward points-based system.
Under the programme, two credentials are available: one for DEI professionals with strategic experience in this work and one for DEI practitioners who support and implement programmes.
Auckland-based workplace diversity champions have two upcoming opportunities to gain accreditation. Next week, on Tuesday, 9 July, there will be a hui for Professional designation, and then another hui for Practitioner designation is scheduled for Wednesday, 14 August. Both hui will be held at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae on the Unitec Mt Albert Campus.
There are also hui planned in Christchurch and Wellington later this year.
Accelerated accreditation costs $425. This covers your application review, the group hui, and the first-year registration fee.
